Mission Statement and Aims of the School
Our mission is to create a caring and supportive environment, in which each individual pupil is encouraged to develop her talents to the full. We aim to provide a broad and balanced, stimulating and forward looking education. We seek to instil in every girl a lifelong love of learning, and the confidence to develop and express independent views, whilst showing understanding and sensitivity to the beliefs and needs of others. We aim that every girl should move on from Tormead at ease with herself and ready to face with confidence the challenges of life in higher education and beyond.
Our Aims and Values
- We aim to give each girl the stimulus and encouragement to develop her abilities to the full, to maintain a wide range of interests, and to possess a clear sense of personal values and responsibilities
- We value individuality, celebrate diversity and encourage girls to be themselves, whilst emphasising equally the importance of tolerance, teamwork and collective responsibility
- We encourage pupils to develop a spirit of enquiry, independence of mind and creative, imaginative and logical thinking
- We strive for excellence in all activities, whilst recognising and encouraging the efforts of all girls, according to their individual capabilities
- We believe in fostering good relations, efficient communication and mutual support between all members of the school community
- We aim to consult with parents, wherever appropriate, recognising and valuing their contribution, and to be responsive to family needs
- We aim to foster and maintain strong links with the Guildford community, and with the wider world, and to provide opportunities for girls to take part in local, national and international community service
