1. Behave safely and responsibly, taking care both for others and yourself.

2. Act in a polite and courteous manner at all times: be aware that guests and visitors need special consideration. Be punctual and prepared with correct books and equipment.

3. Respect yourself: take pride in your personal appearance (uniform) and your work. Aim for high standards in whatever you do, meet deadlines punctually.

4. Respect other people’s property and your own: remember “borrowing” someone else’s ideas, work or property without permission is stealing.

5. Respect the authority of all staff and senior girls: listen and respond appropriately.

6. Respect other people’s views and opinions: remember they will not always agree with you.

7. Seek always the best for others - and for yourself. Be ready to co-operate willingly with others for the good of the community.

Code of Conduct which supports the aims of the school

A community requires from its member

Co-operation

  • think of what working and living together means in terms of sharing and thinking of others, both in and out of school
  • assist in the smooth running of the school by carrying out the tasks requested and honouring commitments

Care

  • for the welfare of others which means treating all other members of the community with respect
  • for the safety of others which means behaving sensibly in corridors and following safety codes in laboratories, Technology rooms, P.E areas.

and a community offers its members tolerance, respect and an opportunity for personal growth and development.

As individuals we have needs and responsibilities:

To Value Ourselves

  • take care over how we look
  • be prepared to try our best
  • to think for ourselves
  • to follow our consciences

To Be Valued By Others

  • respect the opinions of other people and resist the temptation to ridicule
  • offer support and encouragement
  • be tolerant of others’ needs

To Be Able To Work In Congenial Surroundings

  • look after the environment of the School; condition of rooms and furniture
  • avoid disturbing the work of others through undue noise

We expect that all members of the school will wish to respect the Code of Conduct which has been devised with the help of all sections of the school community. Its aim is to ensure that the community of the school is one where, in a disciplined environment, teaching and learning can take place most effectively.
