| The Lower School
(National Curriculum Years 7 - 9)
Most girls from the Junior Department move into the Lower School at 11+ and are joined by a substantial number of new entrants. They are placed in parallel forms of approximately 24 pupils each. Much of the teaching takes place in form groups, although there is setting for French and Mathematics and smaller groupings for some practical subjects. The curriculum is broadly based and whilst following Key Stage 3 syllabus in the core subjects (English, Mathematics, Science) we also aim to offer a more challenging curriculum which includes:
Art & Design
Classical Civilisation
Design Technology
Drama
Food Technology
French
Geography
German/Spanish
History
Information and Communications Technology
Latin
Music
Physical Education
Religious Education
Textiles Technology
Information and Communications Technology is a particular strength and during these years all girls are taught the skills necessary to enable them to make best use of the well-equipped computer rooms. |
