Shooting for excellence at Condover Hall

The U13 and U14 netball squads represented Tormead proudly at the GSA Netball tournament held at Condover Hall in Shropshire this September.

The U14s won eight out of nine matches on the Saturday; tough games were played against Notting Hill, Shrewsbury and the Lady Eleanor Holles School. However, they succeeded in coming second in their group, earning themselves a place in the top pool of the Sunday tournament, competing for the Trophy. Later, they played well enough to get into the semi-finals and came fourth out of eighteen schools overall.

The U13s played six matches on the Saturday, beating Notting Hill, Haberdasher’s and Dame Allan’s, and drawing with Bolton School. They came third in their group and played in the Cup section of the tournament on the Sunday. Here, the team beat Tudor Hall and Bolton  to get into the semi-final, but were unlucky to lose to Godolphin and Latymer School in extra time. They finished third overall, which was a great result!

Throughout the weekend the girls were lucky to have England and Surrey Storm player Pamela Cookey and ex-England netballer Amanda Newton giving them advice and coaching on becoming the best netballers possible. Having spent three days playing netball, interspersed with testing themselves on the outdoor activities, the girls have come back to school for a rest!
