‘In and Around School’, ‘Work and Play’, ‘Light and Dark’, ‘Habitats’, ‘Toys’ and ‘Homes’ are just a few of the topics studied by Year 1. Each topic acts as a focus, over the course of a number of weeks, with practical work, literacy and even, at times, numeracy using each particular theme for the context of their work. We asked Year 1 what they liked about school. Their list included, ‘Painting’, 'Writing’, ‘Building’, ‘Dancing’, ‘Eating our snack!’ and ‘P.E.’.
