Year 6 girls are sited in Shackleton House, a purpose built building with all the latest facilities. There are two parallel classes occupying the first floor. Both rooms are equipped with interactive white boards, which are used extensively in the teaching of all subjects. Year 6 is a busy year in many different ways. Girls prepare to sit an entrance exam in January for entry into the Senior School in the following September. As part of the school community, they are offered posts of responsibility with an emphasis on leadership, participation in all events and setting an example to the younger girls. At the end of the year, girls get the opportunity of putting on a dramatic production, which is performed during the evening to parents, relatives and friends. Several visits are planned to enhance the curriculum and all the girls have the opportunity of participating in a residential visit to encourage team building and building self-esteem. Finally, at the end of the summer term, they take a full part in the Junior Department Speech Day, their rites of passage at the end of their primary education.
