Year 6 dressed for action

Year 6 girls, plus four members of staff, have recently returned from a five day residential visit to Dorset's World Heritage site – ‘The Jurassic Coast’. Despite inclement weather, the girls managed to complete a full programme of events. The visit combined both activities and field studies. Fossil hunting was very popular and some excellent examples of ammonites were found. ‘Rock pooling’ also proved popular and several unsuspecting sea creatures were photographed and moved from one pool to another! Many of the activities were team building exercises requiring the girls to work together and to listen to each others’ suggestions, whilst tackling problem-solving dilemmas. First Aid also proved very popular, with girls receiving certificates after learning about CPR, how to cope with and bandage a cut arm, and treating minor cuts and bruises. The more physical activities included abseiling, aeroball, trampolining and wacky races! On their return to Tormead, both girls and staff appreciated the thought of a three day weekend.
