The Senior School welcomes girls from Tormead Junior School as well as girls from many local Preparatory and Primary schools.

The year group consists of 4 mixed ability classes of around 24 girls, most subjects are taught in these form groups throughout the first three years in Lower School. Maths and French are taught in sets based on ability and there are smaller classes for practical subjects such as Design and Technology, Food and Nutrition and Textiles.

Responsibilty and leadership are encourgaed in a variety of ways; each form has a Form Captain, these girls represent their form's views at School Council as well as taking responsibilty for various administrative tasks.

Each girl is a member of one of four Houses; Livingstone, Nelson, Nightingale and Wellington. There are weekly House meetings and termly events, such as House Music, House Sport and charity events where all girls take part. The House system allows the girls the opportunity to mix with others of different ages.

As the girls reach Year 9 -  the top of Lower School - they apply for additional positions of responsibility; such as Sports, Drama, Art and Music Captains or Lower School Leaders. They also become an Aunt to a new Year 7 girl.
