To qualify for entry to Tormead Sixth Form girls normally need a minimum of nine GCSE passes with at least a B in Mathematics and English. We would normally expect you to have at least a grade A in a GCSE subject if you wish to study it at AS level. Individual discussions will be held with students wishing to take up subjects which they have not studied at GCSE.
If your daughter is already at Tormead she will attend “Ten to the Tower Day” in the Summer Term of Year 10 which will give her a chance to sample Sixth Form lessons and life in the Sixth Form. Then, parents and girls are invited in the July of Year 10 for an evening which showcases the extra-curricular life at Tormead. In the October of Year 11 parents and girls are invited to attend a Sixth Form Curriculum Fair. This is her chance to find out all about the subjects on offer in the Sixth Form, so that she can choose which ones you wish to study. That is followed by an individual interview, when we talk with your daughter in detail about her choices and ensure they match her academic potential and career/university aspirations.
After her mock GCSEs and the Year 11 parents' evening, she is then asked to finalise her subject choices in early February.
If your daughter is not currently a student at Tormead, she is invited to make an appointment with the Registrar for an informal tour of the School and then encouraged to attend the Sixth Form Curriculum Fair in October, when she will have an opportunity to meet with subject staff. Application for entry to the Sixth Form is through the Registrar. The closing date for registrations for is 31st Ocotber of the year prior to entry. The Registration Form is available on the website.
Once the completed Registration Forms have been received, together with the £100 Registration Fee, we will then arrange to interview your daughter in November
We also offer Sixth Form Scholarships and Bursaries. Please click here for more information.
