Year 11 scoops a hat trick

Charlotte Russell, fought her way through stiff competition this weekend to win Bronze and be selected to represent the Southern Region at the British Youth Championships in the U16 Epee section in 2010. Charlotte, who is currently ranked 7th after winning three Bronzes in the national Leon Paul Junior Series at U15 Epee, has always challenged the Hypotonia from which she has suffered since birth.

It was Tormead’s own fencing coach Steven Davey who suggested that she should take up Epee in September 2008, Charlotte then fought her first tournament in March 2009 since which she has worked hard and made rapid progress. Amongst other competitions Charlotte, who now belongs to the Aldershot Fencing Club, has fought for Tormead in the English Public Schools Championships, has achieved a good result in the U17 Cadet British Selection Championships and is currently contesting the 2008/9 U17 Elite Epee Series.

Congratulations Charlotte and we wish you luck for the upcoming counties!
