Congratulations to Tormead Old Girl, Rachael Solway who has qualified for the 200M Individual Medley and 200M Breaststroke at the London 2012 Olympic trials to be held in March at the London Acquatic Centre.

Rachael left Tormead in July 2010 to study at Loughborough University. She is part of an elite performance group coached by Ian Armiger, the Director of Swimming at Loughborough. She was awarded a Loughborough University Sports Scholarship in October 2010 and again in October 2011.

During last season, she qualified for the World Championship selection trials, held in Manchester in March 2011. She reached the semi final of the 200M Individual Medley, coming 10th, and also the semi final of the 200M Breaststroke, coming 12th.

At the British Universities Championships held in February 2011, she was Gold Medallist & BUCS Champion in the 200M Breaststroke and she came 4th in the 100M Breaststroke Final.

In addition to her 10 hours of BSc Economics lectures, her training schedule is a punishing 18 hours per week in the water, plus 3 gym sessions!

We all wish her the very best luck with her training this winter.
