Another set of impressive A level results

The late summer sun continued to shine at Tormead this morning as the girls in the Upper Sixth arrived to pick up an outstanding set of A Level results.

The sense of expectation was heightened this year as UCAS decided to remove the midnight rush for answers and kept TRACK offline until this morning, so many of the girls were unaware if they had been successful in their University applications before they arrived at school at 8am to open their results.

But they needn’t have worried as the results were indeed impressive; 83% of girls achieved at least one A* or A Grade, with 28% of A Level exams taken achieving the top Grade A*, 63% were awarded A*/A and 90% of exams taken gained A*/B.

Six girls were awarded places at Oxford and Cambridge to read courses in Law, Classics, Medicine, and History. Between them the girls achieved an incredible 17A* grades in the 19 subjects they sat, with one girl achieving 4 A* grades, she goes on to read Chemistry at Oxford.

The vast majority of girls will be going to their first choice university to study a range of courses such as Mechanical Engineering at Birmingham, English at York and Physics/Philosophy at Kings College.

Christina Foord, Headmistress said “I am thrilled that the girls have done so well and we are pleased that the preparation they have received here at Tormead means they will be ready to grasp the opportunities that await them as they take this next exciting step in their lives. I know the girls are very grateful to all the staff for their hard work and dedication to ensure they achieved the best grades possible.”
