Senior Squad completes pre-season training at Surrey Sports Park

The Senior squad began their pre-season training for hockey and netball at Surrey Sports Park in the last week of August. The intensive three day camp focussed on developing endurance, speed, strength and skill with fitness sessions in the morning then hockey and netball sessions in the afternoon.

Tormead’s partnership with Surrey Sports Park means that the squad benefitted from working with elite sports professionals and were able to use specialist equipment that measured speed, strength and endurance, allowing the girls to set appropriate targets for the rest of the season.

The pre-season programme had a mental as well as a physical aspect to it, with a nutrition talk to help the girls to understand the importance of keeping healthy and eating at the appropriate times before and after sport, thereby ensuring the best possible recovery times and minimising the risk of injury.
