2014 Sounds sweet

Tormead’s Music Department has had a sonorous start to 2014.

In January, we were entertained melodically by the Chamber Orchestra Concert, delighted by the latest Glee Musical Revue, and awestruck by the magnitude of talent evident at the House Music competition.

The start of February witnessed a Tormead-first: the Chamber Choir travelled to Chichester Cathedral to sing the service of Choral Evensong, on the resident cathedral choir’s day off.

This was the first time in Tormead’s history that one of our school choirs has sung evensong in a cathedral. The service was attended by members of the public as well as supporting parents.

The choir sung the responses, psalms, a setting of the evening canticles by Mr Merryweather, along with John Ireland’s anthem ‘Ex ore innocentium’.  Eleanor Year 11, played the concluding organ piece, a voluntary by John Stanley.

Congratulations to all our musicians, singers, conductors and composers!
