Year 2 visit Bay Pond

Year 2 had a wonderful time at Bay Pond. The girls were separated into four groups for a food chain game: minibeasts, nibblers, nobblers and super nobblers! The girls then split into groups to go on a nature walk and minibeast hunt. The children had great fun exploring the different habitats and sorting the animals into groups according to the number of legs they had.

After lunch we went to the pond to go pond dipping for aquatic invertebrates. The children were tasked with using a sheet to identify what they had caught blood worms, pea mussels, pond skaters and sticklebacks.  The girls then looked at the animals under a microscope which gave them the opportunity to observe the different body parts of each animal. Despite the rain the girls were on fantastic form and loved the opportunity to increase their scientific knowledge.
