Spectroscopy in a Suitcase

Katie Nuttall, Jasmine Freeborn and Evita Harmane from Reading University ran a spectroscopy workshop for the upper sixth chemists today at Tormead. Our chemists had the opportunity to run their own analyses of chemical samples on an infra-red spectrometer then undertake a problem solving exercise to solve the mystery of the body in the lab. This workshop strongly supports the A level course and we are immensely grateful to Reading University and the Royal Society of Chemistry for this outreach opportunity. Harriet Sharp, our chemistry mentor, thanked our visitors on all our behalf at the end of the workshop.
