On Thursday 18 May, Tormead School were honoured to welcome Professor Robert Winston for a very special evening talk. Professor Winston is Chairman of the Genesis Research Trust – a charity which has raised over £13 million to fund high quality research into women’s health and babies. His talk focused on the field of Embryology, explaining how early human development shapes every aspect of adult life. The importance of Science in education was emphasised, as he took a wide range of questions from the audience following on from his presentation. Our Sixth Form Biologists, along with our Year 11’s were invited to meet with Professor Winston, who offered some fantastic advice about A-Levels and embracing scientific careers beyond school. To mark this special occasion, KYTOS (on behalf of Tormead) were proud to present Professor Winston with a donation towards his Genesis Research Trust.
