Letter from Chair of Governors Announcing New Head from September 2020

Dear Parents

The Governors of Tormead School are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr David Boyd MA (Oxon) PGCE (Cantab) as Head from September 2020.

David joins Tormead School from Latymer Upper School, a leading co-educational day school in Hammersmith, where he is currently Deputy Head (Pastoral). Previously, he spent two years in Hong Kong establishing a new British International School, as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, and prior to that spent eleven years as Housemaster, at Abingdon School in Oxfordshire.

David grew up in Belfast and gained his undergraduate degree in Theology at the University of Oxford, before completing his PGCE at the University of Cambridge. He is an avid traveller, enjoys running, swimming, and has a keen interest in technology; and is presently completing a Masters degree in Education and Technology at University College London. He is married, with one young daughter. David and his family are looking forward to moving to the Guildford area.

David has asked me to pass on these words to you, the girls and all members of staff.

“I’m incredibly excited to be appointed Head of such a forward-thinking and caring school, which combines outstanding pastoral care with academic excellence and a deep commitment to providing a broad and rounded education for its girls. I am very much looking forward to leading the Tormead community and getting to know the girls, staff and parents, in the months ahead.”

David will be visiting Tormead before he takes up the role, but he will clearly have ongoing commitments to his current School until July, there will be opportunities for parents and prospective parents to meet him during 2020.

Thank you for your continued support to our school community.

Rosie Harris
