Nightingale Wins ‘Social Distancing’ House Song Competition

Following the nationwide Covid-19 lockdown that began back in March, Tormead responded quickly by adapting its popular end of Spring Term House Music competition, to launch the ‘social distancing’ House Song competition.

Introduced to staff and girls during virtual House meetings with an accompanying video explanation, the House Song competition challenged Senior School girls to write lyrics with a social distancing theme and sing their own version of a favourite song. Recorded entries were judged by the Music Department and the winners were announced this week during Mrs Foord’s Whole School Video Assembly.

Huge congratulations go to Nightingale House’s Robyn in Upper Sixth, who was crowned the overall winner with her version of Maroon 5’s hit ‘Memories’. Second Place went to Nelson House’s Gabby, also in Upper Sixth, for her rendition of Harry Style’s ‘Falling’.

Runners-Up for each House include: Livingstone, sisters Charlotte and Emily (Year 10 and Upper Sixth); Nelson, Livvi (Year 10); Nightingale, Alecia (Lower Sixth); and Wellington, a Lower Sixth ensemble.

The winning entry videos are available to enjoy here, along with the initial launch video featuring Tormead teacher, Mr Breslin.  Well done to all girls and staff who took part!
