We believe strongly in fostering a genuine love of learning, and developing each girl’s intellectual curiosity. Our curriculum is designed to offer breadth and opportunity, preparing our girls for life in today’s world. From Reception through to the Sixth Form, girls are encouraged to explore a wide range of subjects, covering all key areas and including several language options and creative disciplines.
Our Academic Scholarships recognise the unique combination of both excellence and potential in our most able girls, and are awarded to those in Years 6 to 13 who demonstrate the values, attitudes and attributes of life-long learners. Scholarship opportunities begin for girls at the end of Year 5 based on summer examination scores, mirroring the awards made at 11+, 15+ and Sixth Form.
Tormead offers a wide range of academic enrichment activities which occur outside of the normal school timetable. All girls in Years 4 to 13 are encouraged to participate in our Beacon Programme. In the Senior School, our Academic Scholars belong to the Clayton Scholars’ Programme. In the Junior School, Academic Scholars meet with the Directors of Studies to plan and research a subject of their choice, with the final presentations of their findings made to their peers.
