We were delighted to welcome parents and students from Year 10 and Year 12 to ‘Beyond Tormead’, an evening focused on options available after Sixth Form. The evening began with an introduction to UCAS by Mr Sykes, Head of University Admissions, who explained the process of applying to university and the comprehensive one-to-one support available to our Sixth Form students. Participants then chose to attend two breakout rooms to explore a variety of post-18 options. They heard from Exeter University about how to choose a course and university, and the important aspects to consider. Guests also heard about degree apprenticeship pathways  from previous Tormead students Ottalie, Olivia and Suhani. They spoke inspirationally about their experience doing degree apprenticeships in restructuring, audit and digital solutions for EY, Grant Thornton and PwC respectively. Those interested in medicine, dentistry and veterinary careers learnt about the commitment required to make a competitive application, whilst those with Oxbridge ambitions were given tips and advice on how to approach the process, including details about the comprehensive support programme offered at Tormead. It was an impactful evening with lots of questions from the audience, and students left feeling excited about their future.
