British Schools National Finals

Last weekend saw the closure of the 2023-2024 competition season for gymnastics and the girls certainly went out with a bang. We had 22 gymnasts across both the Prep and Senior Schools travelling to Stoke-on-Trent to compete in the Floor and Vault and Acrobatic Gymnastics National Finals.

On Saturday, Gracie, Aimee, Eva, Evie, Sasha and Alba competed in the floor and vault final in the U11 age group and Christina, Isabella, Niamh, Tyler, Annabel and Jess competed in their first ever U14 acrobatic gymnastics final. Our U11 team won the team final, Gracie won the individual final and our U14 acro squad came second which is an amazing result for their first season representing the school.

Sunday saw three teams take to the floor. Gracie, Aimee, Sasha and Evie returned to join Grace and Zara in their first ever acrobatic gymnastics final and Isabella, Jess, Niamh and Tyler were joined by Ella and Maggie competing in the U14 floor and vault final alongside Leonie, Emily, Sonia, Sienna and Isabelle competing in the U19 age group.

The U11 acro team surpassed expectation and won the national title with the U19 team joining them winning the overall team title and Leonie winning the overall individual title. The U14 gymnasts fought a tough competition and came in second place by only 0.3 marks.

We are hugely proud of all the gymnasts that competed this weekend and congratulate them all on their successes. A special mention has to be given to Emily and Isabelle, however, who have been contributing to the success of the gymnastics squads since they started at Tormead in 2013 and 2019 respectively, both as gymnasts and helping to coach. We wish you an abundance of success in your next pursuits and hope to see you back at alumnae events, competitions or just to come and say hello in the future!
