Tormead students do themselves proud

Congratulations to our Year 11 pupils receiving their GCSE results. They performed extremely well over the course of their GCSE years, under the most challenging circumstances and they should be very proud of every grade.

Not only that, but they should also be incredibly proud of what they have achieved outside of the classroom. Congratulations to Rina, celebrating her entrance into the National Youth Ballet. Well done to Lilly, for co-directing A Comedy of Errors. Chloe, well done for coming 5th in the under 16 British kayaking championships and Stella, representing Great Britain in the under 17 water skiing. Well done to Emily and Carrie, being part of the Tormead gymnastics team, winning three national titles and to Gabriella, joining Surrey Storm’s East Surrey Academy.

This is an exciting year for Tormead as we welcome back one of the largest cohorts of Lower Sixth formers for many years, who have between them achieved between them some outstanding grades, including 51% 9-8 and 78% 9-7. This year’s Sixth Form also return to our new Sixth Form Centre, that is only days away from completion and is looking fantastic: a fitting learning, study and social space for such talented, industrious and creative students.

Well done again to Year 11, and my thanks to parents, colleagues, and support staff, who have all been part of the team that has contributed towards the achievement of these grades. Thank you too, to the many pupils and parents who were able to attend today’s celebration at school and for those who were not, I hope that you have the chance to celebrate your achievements over the coming days.
