Horizons Talk – Sophie Matthews

Last Friday Sixth Form enjoyed a fascinating talk from Sophie Matthew as part of the weekly Horizons programme. Sophie Matthew is an actress and casting director who has starred in multiple performances such as playing Sophie and Lisa in Mamma Mia! on the West End.

Her talk covered how she began acting through studying Performing Arts at A Level and going on to train at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London. She spoke about her work both on stage and on screen, providing great guidance for Sixth Form students who are interested in the Performing Arts through her experience as an actress and insight as a casting director.

After her talk, and the chance to ask questions, the Sixth Form and teachers alike loved the opportunity to learn the fun, but quite challenging, choreography to ABBA’s ‘Waterloo’ as performed on the West End in Mamma Mia! This was the perfect way to round off such an insightful and fun talk!
