Every child from Reception through to Year 6 has a weekly drama lesson as part of their curriculum. In addition, girls have the opportunity to take London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) lessons at KS2 or become part of a lunchtime Drama Club (KS1 and Year 3).
All girls take part in numerous dramatic performances over the year from class assemblies, the Christmas nativity, or LAMDA exams, to the main productions in both key stages. The Junior girls are fortunate to have access to the Senior School drama facilities. Drama productions in the Summer Term are, for many, the highlight of the year, with KS1 performing in the JCS Auditorium theatre and Year 6 in the Senior School Main Hall, where state-of-the-art lighting and sound enhance these spectacular productions.
Some girls can be naturally quite shy but the self-confidence that is encouraged through performance means that they are learning the life skills of communication and presentation alongside developing a love of the performing arts.
