Music, Drama & Arts Evening

On Tuesday 8 November, we hosted our annual Music, Drama and Art Evening with Mrs Ward overseeing the music for the first time and Mr Ewbank selecting the artwork for the last time. Mr Campbell’s Year 7 Drama Club presented their first performances of the year with each group staging a mini play that lasted exactly sixty seconds – with a countdown timer running through each performance for the audience to check. Mrs Annett’s Year 8/9 Youth Theatre joined in the fun too by creating a series of ‘Moving Statues’ where the audience had to step on signs in order to make them move and bring some dramatic stories to life.

The audience all started in the Hall where they were greeted with a wonderful opening performance by the Tormead Mozart Players, before touring around different venues on the ground floor and witnessing a wide array of solo and small group ensemble performances including String Ensemble and The Rosen Band.

The evening was wrapped up perfectly in the Atrium where refreshments were served alongside some magnificent artwork. The artwork selected featured work that was produced by all year groups, from life-like animal drawings by Year 7 to individual Sixth Form A-Level project pieces. It also included a display of Art Scholars’ work that showcased some stunning skill and real imagination. The evening ended with the marvellous Jazz Band performing ‘Pescados Frescos’ and ‘Cantaloupe Island’ to send the audience home in a thoroughly good mood.
