New Director in Residence
A very warm welcome to Floss Barton, our new Director in Residence at Tormead.
Alongside her role as Director in Residence for the Drama Department, Floss is also a professional performer in the Musical Theatre industry. She trained at renowned institutions such as The BRIT School, National Youth Music Theatre and Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, where she discovered a real love for working with the younger generation to develop their performance skills. Floss recently graduated from Italia Conti with a 1st Class BA Hons Degree in Musical Theatre, and during her time there, she played a multitude of roles, from Elphaba in Wicked to Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar.
Floss has worked in schools in both performing arts and non-performing arts settings and for the last couple of years, she has been working at the Italia Conti Associates programme in Woking, teaching classes, assisting classes and helping to prepare students for productions.
“I have also always had a love for creating and directing, my most recent production being my very own one-woman dissertation performance, titled Happy Days. So, as you can imagine, I am super excited to grow my experience in these areas on a bigger scale in this new role as Director in Residence, and I cannot wait to work with the budding young performers here at Tormead!”
