Rememberance service at Abinger

Year 11 Tormead Historians have given up their lunchtimes to learn how to research the men who have given their lives during the Great War and WW2.

To put these skills to good use the girls have researched the men from Abinger Common who died in the Great War and visited some of their graves and memorials on a school Battlefields trip in May.

On Sunday, 5 Tormead girls attended the Remembrance service at St James’ Church, Abinger and discussed their work with Rev Tony Berry and parishioners.

Alice said “It was really moving to speak to all the people at the service and hear some of their personal stories.”
