RGS & Tormead Prefects’ Summer Party

On Tuesday 18th June, a group of Lower Sixth Tormead students that hold roles of responsibility were invited by RGS to a Prefects’ BBQ event at their sports ground, Bradstone Brook. The aim of this BBQ was to allow us to get to know the boys at RGS who might share the same roles as us, creating useful connections we can use for planning joint events in the future. The evening consisted of playing sports, having food, getting to know everyone and even some competitive rounders. We travelled to the field by minibus and were able to help ourselves to food and drink before playing a couple of rounds of croquet, rounders, boules and Kubb (a game most of us were intrigued to attempt). This consisted of throwing pieces of wood to hit other bits of wood, trying hard to not accidentally throw it into the opposing team’s players standing closely behind. It was very entertaining and I do not think either team can claim victory in that specific game.

The rounders game was a main feature of the evening, with nearly every single student joining in, to create one massive match. The game was unique through the use of a baseball bat instead of a rounders bat, and the uncertainty of where exactly the bases were on the field, however I am sure we scored way more than the RGS team! Later, a Greek BBQ was served, and we all gathered to sit on the field to eat. The food was delicious and it was lovely weather to be able to sit outside. Overall, it was a very fun evening and really great to get to know everybody that we might be working with in Upper Sixth. We look forward to hosting events later in the year with RGS, and hope they all have a great summer!
