Sixth Form History Trip

Witches, ghosts and Holiday Inn Express, what a trip! The Sixth Form historians embarked on a journey to Lancashire to explore the story of the 1612 Pendle witch trials. The tour was led by the legendary Simon Entwhistle who was an enthusiastic and entertaining guide. The highlights included visiting the cells at Lancaster Castle, the Eton of Lancashire and the haunted Samlesbury Hall. Sixth Formers learnt about the nature of the trials, the lives of those accused and the motivations behind accusations. Visualising the real life consequences of the use of child witnesses was particularly interesting as it is extremely relevant to the A Level Witchcraze unit depth studies. Evening entertainment included a mafia-inspired witchcraze game put together by Mr Breslin himself.
