Another term, another Tormead production – this time, The Frogs, an ancient Greek comedy updated by Ms Walker and performed by a cast and crew of lower school pupils, some of whom were taking part in their first ever production.

Bea (Y7) wrote in the Tiny Times this week: 

“I went on Friday and it was one of the best performances I have ever seen. It was funny, it was creative, and it was made even better by the delicious picnic boxes handed out at the start. The play follows the journey of Xanthias and Dionysus as they journey to the underworld to retrieve a poet to save ‘the arts.’ It was a crazy, humorous unforgettable performance and deserves a 5-star review.” 

The brilliant cast and crew breathed new life into a story that is two and a half thousand years old. Whether they were travelling by cardboard boat across a blue, silky stage, popping up as frogs, cycling around the auditorium or munching their way through pots of Ambrosia custard, a great time was had by all.  Everyone was excellent,  and special mention must go to Ruby S and Sophie M whose parts were extremely demanding. Despite having pages and pages of lines to learn and hours and hours of rehearsal, Sophie M still had the energy and enthusiasm to rave about her experience playing Xanthias: 

“The Frogs was so fun to be a part of. The cast & crew was so awesome and supportive – I have met new friends who I have loved acting with!  The show was an amazing experience and I recommend anyone who likes performing or doing tech/backstage to get involved in the next one!”
