Amelia Edwards

Head of Year 7 & Head of Netball

What does your role as Head of Year 7 involve?

“One of the most important parts of being Head of Year 7 is welcoming the pupils to Tormead and helping them settle into the new school environment. We have girls who come from such a wide range of schools, so it is quite special them all coming together to create a new community together. Working with the brilliant Year 7 tutor team, we encourage the girls to make the most out of the range of opportunities on offer to them and instill an appetite to achieve at school and throughout life. This includes the huge range of co-curricular activities on offer, before school, at lunchtime and after school. It is also important to have an overview of both the pastoral support and academic achievements of pupils as they work harmoniously with one another to achieve happiness and success.”

How long have you been at Tormead?

“This is my sixth year at Tormead and it has flown by! It is wonderful to see the girls progress from Year 7 up through the school and I am so proud to be a part of their journey and witness the young women they become.

What do you love most about your job?

“I cherish the opportunity I have to provide support, guidance and encouragement to pupils and help with any obstacles they face. The enthusiasm from pupils to have a go at anything and everything is amazing. The variety and engagement in lessons, activities, house competitions, charity days and year group events create an exciting buzz around school everyday.”
