Tormead & RGS Year 8 Sustainable Cities

On Friday 15th November we went to RGS to have a day where we worked together to make a futuristic eco city. We had to work as a group to create a sustainable city out of recycled materials. We worked alongside the RGS boys to make a model of what we wanted it to look like as well as including solar panels and wind turbines to make sustainable energy. This day was important because it showed us the importance of working together and making new friends.

In the morning we had a presentation about what we would be doing. We repurposed sustainable cities like Cophenhagen and Dubai. Groups consisted of approximately four girl and four boys. We made a bridge which charged cars which was very eco-friendly and a house that had windows that doubled as solar panels and rooftop gardens on all buildings. Each group had to give a presentation on their city including budgets, roles in the city, resources and how the city was made sustainable. We all really enjoyed the experience and hope to do it again next year.

This was a really fun day and a good opportunity to meet with different people and make more friends. It was a great opportunity and a great experience.
