On Thursday 17 November, we hosted Tormead’s very first Singing Festival. With esteemed guest judge, soprano Louise Fuller, the evening was filled with beautiful singing. The evening started with a bang as our intermediate classical singers took to the stage. As we progressed through the intermediate musical theatre category, we were blessed to hear a range of music, from classic Disney, to ‘Someone Like You’ by Adele. Congratulations to our intermediate winner, Sophia with her performance of ‘Dance with You’ from the musical ‘The Prom’.

As the night progressed, we moved onto the senior category and once again, we started with the classical category, in which we heard the winner Kate sing ‘By Strauss’ by George Gershwin. The senior musical theatre category had tough competition, with some emotional performances from Year 11 and 13. The winner of the senior category was Liv and the winner of the musical theatre category was Bethany, who sang ‘Someone Like You’ by Frank Wildhorn and ‘Watch What Happens’ by Alan Menken respectively.

Congratulations to everyone who won a prize, a highly commended certificate, and to anyone who had the courage to sing on Thursday. I hope we will continue to have Singing Festivals at Tormead!
