Tormead Sports Awards

This year’s Tormead Sports Awards proved to be a wonderful celebration of sporting excellence, recognising the outstanding achievements, commitment and dedication of our pupils across another exceptional year of school sport.

With more than 200 families in attendance, the awards were split across two ceremonies. The Lower School celebration took place in the Main Hall, while the Upper School ceremony was hosted in the Atrium. Across both events, pupils were recognised through the presentation of Colours, trophies and contribution awards, celebrating success across our broad and thriving sports programme.

We were delighted to welcome Olympic Gold medallist Helen Richardson-Walsh as our guest speaker. Helen delivered an inspiring keynote address, sharing valuable lessons from her remarkable international hockey career and Olympic success. Her engaging reflections on resilience, teamwork and high performance provided memorable takeaways for pupils and parents alike.

The evening was made possible through the efforts of many colleagues across the school. A huge thank you goes to our Catering Team for providing fantastic meals for all attendees, our Events Team for expertly coordinating two seamless celebrations, and our PE Department for their passion, commitment and dedication in delivering another hugely successful year of sport at Tormead.

Among the evening’s major awards, Sophie K was named Lower School Sportswoman of the Year following another outstanding season. Sophie represented the A teams across six different sports and achieved national success in cross country, demonstrating exceptional versatility and commitment.

Florence H received the award for Upper School Sportswoman of the Year after an excellent year in athletics, claiming County Gold in the long jump while also making outstanding contributions to both the First XI Hockey and First VII Netball teams.

The school’s highest sporting honour, Whole School Sportswoman of the Year, was awarded to Ami J in recognition of her exceptional swimming season. Ami became National Champion in the 200m Backstroke before going on to represent her country on the international stage. An outstanding achievement that reflects her talent, dedication, and hard work.

Congratulations to all our award winners and to every pupil who has represented Tormead with pride throughout the year. We are incredibly proud of everything our athletes have achieved and are already looking forward to celebrating another fantastic year of sport at next year’s Sports Awards.
