University of Surrey Cancer Research

Our Upper Sixth Biology students took part in a hands-on lab experience at the University of Surrey, led by a Senior Research Scientist and the Project Manager from Clinical and Experimental medicine, funded by the charity Topic of Cancer. The team are currently researching immunotherapy as an alternative treatment for cancer and students had the opportunity to try three different techniques regularly used within research: immunohistochemistry, qPCR and Western Blot. Our students were thrilled to be given the opportunity to work with a team whose groundbreaking research has led to significant advances in this field.
