All our Sixth Form students volunteer weekly in their local community. Emma, in Year 12, has been volunteering with Intergenerational Music Making for the past eight months, supporting community days, intergenerational workshops and providing administrative support at their Creative Health Hub in Guildford.  From helping older adults experiencing loneliness feel reconnected and energised, to empowering young people and families through creative expression, Emma embodies IMM’s ethos: creativity, inclusion, kindness and bringing generations together in meaningful, human ways. 

Recently, Emma joined Intergenerational England in Parliament as they hosted the APPG MarketPlace on Tackling Loneliness and Connected Communities, where Intergenerational England proudly serves as the Secretariat. Emma engaged confidently with MPs, sector leaders and partners sharing her lived experience as a young volunteer and championing the power of intergenerational connection. Seeing her advocate so passionately for community, belonging and creative health was a powerful reminder of why youth voice matters at every level of system change.
