In order to manage the volume of school applications to our main entry points, we administer registration deadlines in the Autumn term, in line with other independent schools in the Guildford area. However, we do welcome in-year or late applications to Tormead, subject to the availability of places. Whether you’re relocating to the area, or wish to discuss an in-year application for your daughter, we are here to help with finding a school place.
For in-year or late applications, please follow the post deadline link for further information.
For Reception entry, girls visit for an hour-long informal assessment, which takes place in small groups within a classroom setting and is aimed at establishing how easily girls will transition to a school environment.
For Year 1 and Year 2 (Key Stage 1) entry, girls visit for a school day and are assessed in English, Mathematics and Reasoning, as well as an informal interview with a teacher.
As part of the assessment, we will contact your daughter’s current school, nursery or play group, to request a brief confidential report about her.
Reception offers will be sent in mid-November. Key Stage 1 offers will be sent in mid-January. To accept a place, parents are asked to pay a deposit and sign the acceptance form confirming their agreement of the school’s Terms and Conditions.
We work to ensure that all girls settle into life at Tormead quickly. Girls entering Pre-Prep are invited to a New Girls’ Afternoon in June, giving them a chance to meet their Form Teacher and other girls in their class. A comprehensive New Joiners’ Information pack is sent to parents, including a wealth of information about the school day, wrap around care, uniform, clubs and other extra-curricular opportunities, to name but a few.
