Beyond Tormead

Preparing for a Bright Future

In such a competitive world, our girls need polished employability skills, the ability to make good but ambitious choices, and the resilience to welcome and adapt to change flexibly and effectively.

That’s why Beyond Tormead is so important. As our enrichment programme for the Upper Sixth, it provides a thorough and rewarding preparation for the next stages of life.

Held over two weeks in June, Beyond Tormead is a mix of university level academic skills, employability skills and knowledge and preparation for leaving Tormead. The varied programme has something for every Upper Sixth girl: each day comprises three formal sessions alongside practical tasks to complete.

“It is always good when alumnae say how the advice we have provided has helped them – and they tell current pupils to make the most of all the opportunities we give them. I love talking to pupils and hearing their ambitions and dreams. It’s especially rewarding when they think there are obstacles in the way of these dreams and we find a way to overcome them.”

Cathy Williams, Head of Careers

Every year, virtually all our Upper Sixth achieve their first-choice university places – with approximately 10% applying to Oxbridge.

After all, our alumnae show the limitless possibilities waiting for our girls. We have old Tormeadians currently working at McLaren, Dyson, Mercedes, helping to design the London Underground, one who is firmly committed to joining a future Martian expedition… Not to mention CEOs, set designers, lawyers, costume designers, doctors, researchers, authors, journalists and the Premier League’s first female football commentator!
