Scott Patterson

Head of Gymnastics

What’s the Gymnastics department’s ethos?

“Proudly championing life-long sport participation through specialist coaching – so girls gain the best sporting foundation. In gymnastics, girls also experience choreography, judging and coaching to enhance knowledge.”

Tell us about your gymnastics career…

“During 1999-2005, I achieved international medals and ranked World Number 1 for four years. Since retiring as an athlete, I’ve coached European and World champions and am a national judge.”

Why is gymnastics important?

“Gymnastics forms the basis of sporting fundamentals, focusing on balance, flexibility, spatial awareness and body control – giving girls a head start.”

Most enjoyable part of your role?

“Seeing real-time results – when girls learn new skills, overcome challenges or win competitions, their reactions are tangible (which keeps me motivated, too).”

What makes you proud about working here?

“When old girls notice the Tormead logo on my kit outside of school and reminisce about their school days. One day, I hope to be a reason why others feel so fondly about the School.”
