Tormead’s National and Development gymnastic squads had a hugely successful day at the South East Milano Trio competition, hosted by Tormead on Saturday 26 January. The competition featured over 250 gymnasts from twelve different schools. Our gymnasts of all ages – U11, U14, U16 and U19 teams – will now represent Tormead and the South East at the British Championships in March at Fenton Manor, Stoke.
The day began early with our Senior gymnasts competing in the U19 National category. The team performed a dynamic and faultless trio routine combined with strong vaulting and a display of beautiful choreography on floor to secure the Regional U19 title. In the youngest section of the competition our U11 team performed with confidence and determination across all three pieces, earning them the Regional title by a clear seven marks.
Later in the day, Tormead’s U13 and U16 teams took to the competition floor. In these age groups we entered not one but three U13 National teams, one U13 Regional team, three U16 National teams and two U16 Regional teams. In the Regional category, our U13 team took the Regional title and not to be out done by them, the U16 Regional teams were also crowned Regional Champions and took a team silver. In the National category the U13 teams placed 1st, 2nd and 4th and the U16 Nationals also secured 1st place, 2nd place and a 5th place team.
The strength and depth of talent on display from our Senior School gymnasts was incredible. All the girls performed with grace, style, determination and an abundance of teamwork on show.
The event would not have been such a success without the help from our team of parents, who ran the café, worked on the entrance desk, warm up hall, scoring system and made the girls look fabulous with their creative hairstyles. Congratulations to all the gymnasts who took part, and a huge thank you to everyone involved.
