During a Prep Assembly this week, we celebrated and presented Florence with her Historical Association award. Every year, our Year 6 pupils produce a historical piece of writing, a few of which are chosen to be submitted to the Historical Association’s competition. We are so proud to announce that Florence, who is now in Year 7 at Tormead Senior School, has won the Character Award for her entry, ‘Carrying Time’. Judge Barbara Henderson said: ‘”The story is told from the perspective of a carriage awaiting a coronation and being modified by inserting pieces of wood with symbolic significance. A bold choice of narrative technique will always impress me, but the premise that each inserted piece of wood carries a memory and inspires a flashback was both unexpected and original. Well done.'” Huge congratulations to Florence, we are so incredibly proud of this achievement.
