Horizons Lectures

Our ‘Horizons’ lectures are a series of specialised enrichment talks for our Sixth Form students. Last week we welcomed Angela Findlay, an artist who spent years working within the criminal justice system, to share her insights into the destructive and costly cycle of crime, prisons and re-offending. She showed us some beautiful examples of the work made by the prisoners and explained how creating art can help offenders to confront their crimes. The students also had an opportunity to discuss the purpose of prison, the rates of incarceration, whether it is effective in preventing re-offenders, and what are the alternatives to prison.
