Christmas Spectacular

In the Tormead Music Department excitement always kicks in when the Christmas music gets pulled out of the boxes for another year. The Christmas Spectacular is certainly a highlight of the Tormead calendar, and last Thursday night was no disappointment. The wide variety of instruments, choirs and musical genres was accompanied by plenty of tinsel, glitter and Santa hats.

The evening started off with a wonderful performance by Concert Band, followed by ‘The Candlelight Carol’ sung with joy and enthusiasm by Year 7. The Jazz Band’s performances are always enjoyed thoroughly: well done to the brilliant soloists! Festive refreshments were enjoyed before performances by Tormead Vox, String Ensemble and Chamber Choir. The annual traditional performance of ‘Sleigh Ride’ was continued, complete with perfectly timed whip cracks from Mr Breslin, much to the delight of the Symphony Orchestra and the audience. This song is always a crowd favourite, and concluded the joyful evening on an uplifting note.
