Tormead Instrumental Festival

Tuesday evening saw the return of the Tormead Instrumental Festival, and it was a sheer joy to experience such a wealth of musical talent from our students amongst a packed audience in the JCS Auditorium. Performers from every year group in the school, ranging from Grade 1 to Diploma standard, played a piece and received personal written feedback from our guest adjudicator, Catherine Olver. After a short time of deliberation – or speculation, depending on which room you were in – the winners and highly commended students were announced. Congratulations to Alison in Year 9 who won the Intermediate category with her beautiful rendition of the ‘Theme from Schindler’s List’ on the violin, and Grace in Year 11 who won the Senior category with the fiendishly difficult ‘From the Shores of the Mighty Pacific’ on trumpet. We are so proud of all the performers for sharing their talents with us.
