Feminism and Equity seminar

The termly Feminism and Equity seminar between the RGS, Tormead and GHS focuses on discussions of controversial topics in an open, neutral and collaborative environment. The RGS hosted this term’s seminar debating various topics such as ‘Do we live in a male-centric country?’, ‘Do single sex schools foster a culture of misogyny?’ and ‘Pornography: sexual liberation or objectification of women?’.

In front of a full audience the school panels of two students each discussed the topic amongst themselves before opening it up to others for a chance to share their thoughts and ideas. It was clear that all the students want to make a positive impact in their communities, engaging and challenging the social environments of today. It was a fantastic event and all the participants can be extremely proud of the way that they discussed these issues and listened to each other.
